Identity Isn't Written In Stone
Identity is not fixed. It is shaped by the beliefs we nurture, the habits we practice, and the choices we make consistently over time.

Identity Flexibility
Creating an identity around the person I want to become has taught me
something powerful: identity is not fixed.
Since I was a little girl, I have invested in the identity of being a
good friend. To me, a good friend is trustworthy, loyal, supportive,
reliable, caring, and willing to listen without judgment. Over the
years, this identity has helped me build meaningful friendships across
many states and seasons of life. I genuinely enjoy serving, helping,
and connecting with people. Being a good friend is part of who I am.
But what I have come to realize is that this identity was not
something I was simply born with. It was developed. Strengthened.
Practiced. I became that person through intentional choices, repeated
actions, and a desire to grow into someone I admired.
That realization changed the way I view personal growth.
So often, we treat identity as permanent. We say things like, “I’m
just not confident,” “I’ve never been disciplined,” or “That’s just
the way I am.” But a growth mindset teaches us that who we are today
does not have to limit who we become tomorrow.
Identity is not fixed. It is shaped by the beliefs we nurture, the
habits we practice, and the choices we make consistently over time.
The beautiful thing about growth is that we are allowed to evolve.
